01Purpose + scope

What this service means here

Specific capability.
Measured role.

Corrective exercise at The Lab translates selected evaluation findings into guided movement practice that can be coached, observed, and adjusted.

The word “corrective” does not imply that a body is broken or that one exercise fixes every concern. Exercises are selected for a defined purpose, then adapted to the person’s ability, goals, and response.

01

Specific to the assessment

Movement choices are tied to what the clinician observes and what matters to the person, rather than pulled from a generic routine.

02

Quality before volume

Coaching emphasizes a clear setup, understandable cues, and a level of challenge that can be performed with appropriate control.

03

Designed to evolve

An exercise may be progressed, simplified, replaced, or paused based on tolerance and reassessment.

02The sequence

What care can
look like here.

The exact visit varies. This sequence describes the reasoning around the service—not a promise of a fixed protocol.

  1. 01

    Identify

Use the evaluation and your goals to identify a focused movement priority rather than beginning with a broad exercise list.

  2. 02

    Teach

Learn the setup, intended motion, and key cues with direct clinician feedback.

  3. 03

    Practice

Perform an appropriate amount of guided practice and discuss what sensations are expected or worth reporting.

  4. 04

    Adapt

Revisit performance and tolerance so the movement can be progressed or modified when appropriate.

Before care

Useful context.
Clear limits.

  • 01

Exercise selection and dosage should reflect the evaluation; more effort is not automatically better.

  • 02

Stop and communicate if a movement produces new, severe, or concerning symptoms.

  • 03

Consistency can support practice, but no exercise or timeline guarantees a specific result.

03Questions worth asking

Clarity before
assumption.

01Is corrective exercise the same as a generic workout?

No. At The Lab it is presented as individualized movement instruction connected to an evaluation and a defined care goal, not a one-size-fits-all fitness plan.

02Will I receive exercises to do at home?

Home practice may be discussed when appropriate, but the exact format depends on your plan and the clinician’s guidance.

03What if an exercise does not feel right?

Stop and tell the clinician, especially for new, severe, or concerning symptoms. Exercises can be modified or reconsidered rather than pushed through automatically.

04Do I need exercise experience or special equipment?

No baseline experience is assumed. Any equipment requirement depends on the specific movement selected for you; ask during the visit before purchasing anything.

Your next step

Ready to move with more confidence?

Start with an individual exam. Dr. Anderson will listen, assess, and explain what may be appropriate for you.
